The character panel helps explain why a build succeeds or fails. Read its values alongside the description of the skill you actually use.
The main attributes
| Attribute | What to inspect |
|---|---|
| Strength | Equipment requirements and physical-skill relationships. |
| Agility | Equipment requirements, speed and combat-rate relationships for your class. |
| Vitality | Life and any class skills that explicitly benefit from it. |
| Energy | Mana, magic or buff relationships, depending on the skill. |
| Command | Dark Lord requirements and systems that specifically use Command. |
There is no single point distribution that serves every class and skill. Meet essential requirements first, then develop the attack and survival plan you chose. A point-reset or character-reset system may have separate rules; read the Velocity reset guide before relying on one.
Damage is not the same as hit reliability
Damage values describe the strength of an attack. Attack success-related values help determine whether attacks connect. Defense and defense success are also distinct: reducing the effect of a hit and avoiding an attack are different functions. Do not replace all defensive equipment solely because another item displays a larger attack number.
Ordinary and elemental combat
The elemental tab shows another layer of attack and defense associated with the Pentagram and its components. An armor upgrade does not automatically solve an elemental weakness. If a new hunting area is unexpectedly dangerous, inspect both ordinary and elemental equipment.
Test one change at a time
Use the same skill, monsters, buffs and approximate test duration. Note kill pace, deaths and potion consumption before changing a piece of gear. Then repeat the same route. Comparing one lucky critical hit with one ordinary hit is not a useful equipment test.
A useful upgrade order
Fix an unusable skill or missing equipment requirement first. Next, solve deaths and resource starvation. Then increase sustained damage. The most useful next item is the one that improves your actual hunting loop.
